Site Policies & Technical Information
Pop-Up Blockers
In some situations where you have especially rigorous pop-up blocking
you may find that you need to allow pop-up's to permit all the site menu
items to operate correctly, for example many detailed items open in a
new window, which some browsers will recognise as a 'pop-up'.
Use of "Cookies"
Cookies are small software files that are loaded automatically by many
web sites into your PC when web pages are accessed. On the Dabchicks Sailing
Club web site no use is made of cookies.
We do not collect any information using cookies and do not track your
usage of the Internet. External sites, e.g. those accessed when you follow
web links, may use cookies to track your usage, for example vendors often
use cookies to track orders, and to allow them to send you "targeted"
sales promotion material by email. Cookies can be disabled or monitored
on most web browsers, however this will normally limit your ability to
browse some of the more advanced web sites.
There are a number of well known sites that provide specialist usage
tracking services, and it may be considered worthwhile specifically blocking
these. Various software cookie management tools and Internet security

Browsers
This site is tested to work correctly using modern versions of Internet
Explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome. It should also work correctly in
Netscape, and most other modern browsers. Please report any incompatibilities

JavaScript
Popup windows & close buttons and some other features depend upon
having JavaScript enabled. If you get script warnings, this is due to
you having script permissions in your browser set to a higher than the
default settings. You may safely accept the scripts on this site.
Flash Player
You need have Flash player enabled from your browser and my need to install
v8, or greater, of Flash Player from Adobe
to view Weather Display Live and other features within this site.
Anonymous Information
Using the logging facilities provided by our Internet Service Providers
we may gather the following anonymous information in aggregate form: browser
type (e.g. Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator), operating system (e.g.
Windows, MacOS, Linux), IP address, and Internet domain (e.g. Demon, AOL).
Virus and Firewall Protection
The Dabchicks Sailing Club recommends that you always run an effective
virus scanning application, and that if you are a serious Internet user,
you invest in proper Internet security arrangements including a firewall.
About this Web Site
This site is built using Adobe DreamWeaver and will operate correctly
with most version 4+ browsers and with 1024x768 display resolution or
better. Display at greater resolutions will cause some of the formatting
to change, with "white space appearing". This should not affect
usability. If you are using a display with a smaller resolution, e.g.
800x600, you will need to scroll horizontally to see the entire page.
