The Flag officers and the General committee organize the club on behalf of the members. The General committee comprises
of the three flag officers (Commodore, Vice Commodore
and Rear Commodore). The committee is chaired by the Commodore and meets in the evening of
the first Monday of the month. It comprises:
These posts are elected at the AGM in November and stand for one year. It is also possible for member to be co-opted for special
positions or knowledge. The details are all covered in the Club rulebook. We always need new blood on the committees so please step
forward and make yourself known.
In addition to the General Committee there are two other organizing committees these are:
- Sailing committee chaired by the flag officer sailing, which organizes all the sailing events, including Cruiser racing, Dinghy racing, Open meetings, National meetings. They are also the liaison for the Sunset series (Wednesday), Ladies sailing night (Thursday), Friday Night Cruiser racing.
- House committee chaired by the flag officer house, which organizes all the social functions, Bar, operates all the facilities.
Please do not be afraid to put your experience into the club through these committees we are always open to new ideas.
There are a number of ways in which you can find out what events are being run and when you have duties, these are:
- Club Programme - sent out with membership cards in February/March. This has the sailing programme for
cruisers and dinghies, details of cruises away from West Mersea, social events, contact information etc.
- The Club Website www.Dabchicks.org
- Posters in the club.
- Email Notifications by registering your email address with the social secretary.
