Sail East Party - Graham Frost - Vice Commodore (Sailing) DSC

On Saturday 26th January 2008, Martin (Basher) Wiggins and I with our good wives Fliss and Tracy, represented the DSC Committee and attended the Sail East Party at the Crouch Yacht Club in Burnham.

The party was held at the CYC club house as 2007 was a special year for them and Sail East as it was CYC's centenary year and Sail East's 10th Anniversary.

What made it even more special for CYC was they won the overall Club series trophy for the 2007 season with their Commodore winning the overall series with his Impala Jiminy Cricket.

DSC won 3rd Place for the overall series and the plaque is hanging by the office in the Club.

The overall DSC Club result is mainly due to the consistent entries of Jolene and Skybird and Phantom through the series.

If we as a Club can get third with three boats turning out, imagine what we could achieve if we had 6 boats or more consistently turning out!

To make your results count, all is required are three weekend events attended through the series.

Each weekends racing usually consists of 3 short course races of approximately 1-2 hours duration.

DSC attendees at the party were:

  • Martin Wiggins
  • Graham Frost
  • Julian Lord
  • Geoff Payne

2007 DSC RESULTS

  • Jolene (Geoff Payne) picked up 1st overall for Class 1 and 6th for the whole series.
  • Phantom (Rob and Rachael Gozzett) was 5th overall in Class 1
  • Destiny (Ed Taylor and Martin Wiggins) was 6th overall in Class 3
  • Skybird (Julian Lord) was 3rd overall in Class 4

The overall consensus from the Party was that 2008 will be an even stronger year for Sail East, especially with the IRC East Coast Championship later in the year. The Sail East Website contains details of all of the events for this year, so please put them in your diaries and lets see if we can improve on 3rd place this year and get a few more winners!!
