Martin Evans Clinches Silver at the Worlds in New Zealand

Martin Evans has just returned from a successful campaign at the Youth Mens Laser Radial World
Championships at Takapuna, New Zealand.
In a field of 43 of the best youth sailors from around the world, Martin excelled launching
the next exciting phase of his amazing career. He is the youngest ever youth to win a medal at the World
Youth Championship. The minimum age of entry is 15 and Martin achieved a podium finish at 15.
Dabchicks Sailing Club, its Flag Officers, committee and members are very proud of Martin and would
like to congratulate him on this amazing achievement. Martin learnt a major part of his trade, sailng
with the Dabchicks Cadet fleet.
Martin's meteoric rise through the national, European and now World arena has been truly fantastic.
Martin has progressed through the ranks sailing both Toppers and Lasers.

- World Championships, Carnac, France - 1st under 13.
- National Championships, Plymouth, England - 1st under 13.
- East Zone Championships, Burnham-on-crouch, England - 1st overall

- World Championships, Carnac, France - Retained 1st under 13.
At the ripe old age of 13 Martin made the transition to Laser Radial and again went from strength to
strength climbing the National, European and World rankings. In 2007 he dominated the World Youth Laser
Radials at junior level, ending up in overall first position in Holland as well as 1st junior position in the Laser Radial
Nationals at Weymouth.
